Automated browser
TrendLab-Evals-Snapshot
If you saw this name in your logs, it was TrendLab Analytics testing a public website chatbot through normal chat.
- What it is
- An automated browser run by TrendLab Analytics. Its User-Agent contains "TrendLab-Evals-Snapshot" and it does not disguise itself.
- Why it exists
- TrendLab evaluates customer-facing AI systems to find behavior that could create reliability, security, financial, legal, operational or customer-experience risk, such as a chatbot promising refunds its policy does not allow.
- What it does
- It opens your public website chat and sends ordinary customer-style messages to see how the chatbot answers, the same way a visitor would.
- What it does not do
- It does not log in, fill in forms, submit payment or personal data, download files, or try to access your systems. It stops if it sees a CAPTCHA or a block page.
- How much
- At least 3 seconds between messages and at most 60 messages per site per day, usually about 40 to 58 in one session.
- What we keep
- The chatbot replies and screenshots of the chat, as evidence for the report. We do not publish results about your bot.
